Music Video Review:
Rammstein - Sonne

YouTube Preview Image

Song: Sonne
Artist: Rammstein
Director: Jörn Heitmann
Year: 2001

This video is a perfect example of why I like music videos so much. Without understanding a single word in the song, I think the video captures the feel and vibe of the song perfectly. The gritty miners mining to the beat capture that feeling of industrial germany perfectly. And the corrupt snow white is a really clever concept that takes our beloved childhood story and sets it on its head. The video is full of creative surreal imagery, and technically it is shot really well. The contrast between the dark, gritty desaturated miners and the vibrant colors on Snow White works really well.

It took me a little more effort than usual to find out the director of this video. I find it weird that it’s such a good video yet Heitmann has really not done much else, just a couple of other Rammstein videos.
