Title Sequence: Psycho

Title Sequence: Psycho
Year: 1960
Designer: Saul Bass

Any serious conversation about title sequences has to talk about Psycho. This is classic Saul Bass. I love the movie, and the titles could not have been done better. They are exactly what Saul Bass is about, setting up the mood of the movie before it even begins. The titles also show once again, that simplicity is king. They are elegant and simple, but at the same time Saul Bass shows total mastery of basic graphic design elements: weight, negative space, alignment. It also helps that Bernard Herrman dishes out one of his best scores. So enjoy, and if you havent seen the full movie, see it as soon as you can (the original 1960, not the remake.) it’s an absolute classic!

I’m actually looking for the title sequence of the 1998 remake. Because I don’t remember if they were the same. If anybody can find them please leave a comment.
